In Greek mythology, Uranus is the personification of Heaven and
the original ruler of the world, the earliest supreme god. Uranus
was the son born to Gaia when she emerged from Chaos. Uranus became
Gaia's husband when his rain made her fertile and the earth became
fruitful. He is the father of Cronus (Saturn) and of the Cyclopes
and Titans (predecessors of the Olympian gods).
